Industrial, Commercial & Automotive Powder Coating

Industrial, Commercial & Automotive Powder Coating Service in Tacoma, Washington

Powder coating is the preferred choice for industrial, commercial, and automotive applications in Tacoma, WA, due to its appearance and durability. Powder coating is an efficient process that protects parts and equipment from weather, impact, heat, corrosion, chemicals, and fading while maintaining their aesthetic appeal. It provides a high-quality finish that can help industrial and commercial parts and automobiles last for years without needing to be replaced or re-painted, unlike traditional liquid coatings. Powder coating is also highly durable and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for outdoor use. Furthermore, powder-coated surfaces require little maintenance compared to other types of finishes, meaning people can save money over time by avoiding costly repairs or replacements down the road.

Our Powder Coating Process

Our powder coating process includes multiple steps to give the surface the desired finish and ensure its durability and longevity.

  • For blasting, we use abrasives like sand to remove previous paint, rust, or other inorganic contaminants to ensure the powder coating adheres correctly. We have a 40-foot contained sandblasting booth to allow our operators to perform high-volume, high-pressure blasting on large surfaces in confinement.

  • Pre-treatment or preparation of the product or surface to be powder coated is the most crucial step in the entire process. It ensures that the surface is free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, and other debris. Improperly prepared surfaces will affect the powder coating adhesion and result in a poor finish. The pretreatment process usually depends on the material to be coated. Our experts use an alkaline, acidic, or neutral cleaner to clean the parts. In several cases, the parts are also treated with conversion coating. Each pretreatment stage follows a rinse to remove residues. The parts are then dried off and are ready to be coated.

  • The next step is to powder coat the surfaces. The equipment or parts are powder coated in a 16-foot Open Booth. The charged powder coating is sprayed on the metal parts that stick to the surfaces via electrostatic bonds.
  •
  • The last step in the process is curing. It melts the resin to convert it into a durable coating. We use a powder coating oven at 650 degrees and consider factors like coating thickness, material, and size, among others, to determine the coating time. After curing, once the powder-coated part or equipment cools down, it is ready for assembling, packaging, and shipping.
